I’m not into the Asgardian portion of The Marvel Universe, so I was fairly sure this event wasn’t going to be for me.  And it’s not.  Bendis is on his game here.  This isn’t bad writing, it’s just not for me.  I also take issue with the fact that none of the so-called Siege tie-ins have contributed to the main story.  The HUGE ending of Dark Wolverine apeears to either not have happened yet in the main title, or Bendis is just going to ignore it.

There’s a two page spread near the end that is probably going to absolutely floor some people.  For me, it didn’t really have any resonance.  All the awe Bendis infused into the Sentry during the last Dark Avengers issue is absent for me here.  He’s once again Bendis’s Oooooooooooooooooooh Guy.  And that’s tiring, and uninspired at this point.

Bendis also made a huge point to introduce the good guys who’d be central to this story, and he did not use one of them, and the series is halfway over.

I’m going to just read the side stories, which I’ve quite enjoyed, and stay off this title.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

Comments

  1. I thought all these issues got destroyed because some truck in Canada exploded?

  2. Nope, we got a shit ton of them.  Probably more than we’ll sell.

  3. I agree with your comments regarding that two page spread – done entirely for shock value, and not really appropriate for this. Some fanboys will love it though.

  4. I’m not sure if I’m going to like this since I HATE the Sentry, and have loved the Thor reboot. Issue 1 was decent, but I’m worried for the 2nd issue.
