Jump Scare: The Comic Book continues at its creepy pace, and finally — finally! — the scales are starting to fall from Jack Brakeman’s eyes. But first, we get many more fake-outs, some of which are, frankly, ridiculous; I laughed at the scene of a woman who we think is being murdered but is actually just having a baby. But even that was an example of the well paced, well edited story we’ve been getting in this title. What I like most about this book is that it’s a well-made horror comic, not just a well-made horror story. If they made this into a movie and included all the fake-outs, it’d be ludicrous. But this book paces itself. It slowly builds up a savage, not-quite-civilized world, a world that Attila Futaki shows us in all its grit.
