I love this book...
...in theory.
I love the idea that there is an small 'team' of villains and vigilantes that now have control of a major U.N. organization, and are going to work with each other (to an extent), to take back what they deserve and bend the country into what they've always envisioned. I love that there's a collection of the most strongest, smartest, most powerful and most arrogant characters in the Marvel U on this team, and I love that Norman Osborn is leading it.
However, I didn't love it so much on paper (seewhatididthere).
Firstly I'll address the art: Dreadful. I remember when the preview pages came out people were turned off by Namor, but that's not even the half of it. Characters like Emma Frost and Loki wouldn't be recognizable if not for their traditional outfits. I'm sure that the only reason Doom looked like himself is because he wears a cape and mask. Namor looked like a 45-year old recovering alcoholic, and, while the others didn't look terribly bad, they just didn't look like themselves at all. After the greatness that was Yu drawing Secret Invasion, I can't believe Marvel handed over art-duties on their next big event to one of the worst artists I've ever seen.
As far as the actual story goes, it was whatever. I liked the discussion in the meeting room (particularly the dialogue between Namor and Doom), but one thing that bugs the heck out of me is the shadowy figure. Now, let's ignore the fact that a shadowy figure is lame as hell to begin with, but when you look at it from the point of view of the villains in that room -- Who, collectively could they not defeat? One of the greatest telepaths in the world, a God, the greatest evil mastermind in the Universe, the king of Atlantis, and the kingpin of the criminal underworld with the power of a demon inside him? The answer is no one. Well, the answer is maybe Mephisto, but I doubt Marvel wants to go back there.
In the end, I'll keep reading because I am a silly idiot who must keep up with all of these things, and I'm hopeful for the future of the book, but I'd be kidding myself if I said this had me excited for the rest of the series.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good
The cover drives me nuts. Is that supposed to be Norman Osborn in the middle? What’s with the hair? And what is he doing with his collar?
The interior art I could deal with, except for the pathetic-looking unshaven Namor. Man, I have never seen him look so ugly. How could Sue have ever had a thing for him?
I’m calling it in the air: The Sentry has gone heel and is Norman’s Ace in the Hole. He’s the only guy I could see giving the villains any kind of pause.
