“Yeah? Well, my god has a hammer.”

Secret Invasion, to me, has felt very important from the start. Yes, it was a slow build-up. Yes, the main action was in the Avengers titles, and most of it was indeed flash-back material.

But the fact remains that the last two issues have made fans excited not only for the event, but for Marvel Comics in general. Bendis and company are reminding us that change is coming, in one form or another, and it is indeed an exciting time to be wrapped up in the Invasion and the mystery of how all of this will affect the Marvel U we all know and love.

Our heroes are gathered, brought together as promised by the threat the Invasion poses upon the entire Marvel U, and they’re about to face off against what may be the entire Skrull armada. Only two issues remain, meaning we’re only a few months away from Dark Reign, the mysterious  post-Invasion world. What will be different? Will the Skrulls be in control, or will they be taken down by the heroes they strive to eliminate? If the latter, who could take control in such a manner as to justify such a title? What exactly do the words “Dark Reign” truly imply, and who are the Dark Avengers?

The answers are mere months away, and if you’re not excited by that then you are far too hard to please.
