This issue felt like it had some real stakes, especially the latter half of the issue. I think that Remender is sometimes at his best when he’s writing singular characters in distress. The moments he spends with Ant-Man as he tries to out run the danger he’s brought upon himself are tense, and the internal monologue hits just the right notes as he fights for his life. On the other side of the coin, he writes the other members, as they try to piece together what’s going on, expertly. I have to say that Beast is becoming one of my favorite characters in the book as he acts both comic relief and the team’s conscience. The issue culminates in a great cliffhanger, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

On the art side of things, Gabriel Hardman continues to prove why he’s one of the best artists out there. His pacing and storytelling are perfect and the action scenes are choreographed well. He does an excellent job of raising the tension in the story as well, especially toward the end of the issue.

As expected, this has become one of Marvel’s best new titles. I can’t wait for the next issue.
