Despite my lowered expectations, this was my favorite book of the week. With Secret Avengers, Marvel continues to bridge the gap between the movie and comic universes with a familiar looking cast. The tone, however, is surprisingly darker than either the film or the comics. The plot device used to bring these characters together was not what I expected, but in retrospect, it makes sense. It also promises to pave the way for some interesting character interaction and storylines.

I think we’re in for a fun ride.
