This was a great issue of Alias, and it was enjoyable to read a new Bendis/Gaydos story about Jessica and Luke. I'm still not sure how the flashback relates to the ongoing Secret Invasion tale, or how it relates to the kidnapping of the baby, which was the framing device for the flashback, but in the end I enjoyed the entire book.
However, it did occur to me that it's now been many months since a monthly Avengers story was being published, and as a long-time fan of the Avngers I really miss that team. Bendis has been able to get two comicbook series with Avengers in the title published monthly just so that he can tell random stories about random characters that he likes. To serve the interests of all of their readers, Marvel should give Bendis a monthly anthology title (call it "Bendis Presents the Marvel Universe" or whatever) to tell his stories (frankly, I'd buy it and probably love it), and let a different writer more adept at telling epic team action stories the Avengers, so that I can still enjoy Avengers comics while I'm enjoying Bendis' smaller, personal character dramas.
