I really wanted to like this series when it launched. I’m not a huge fan of any of the characters, but the concept is an appealing one. I’d read the previews everytime it came out, but it never clicked.

Then I noticed Josh Williamson was writing this one and had to check it out. While staying true to the tone Lobdell had set up, this issue’s diologue was a big improvement. If your offended by the New-Firestar this probably won’t change your view, but I enjoyed this issue a lot. Jason felt more fleshed out, and the story focused on his past and current mindset.

I love Rocafort’s art which is why I keep coming back and trying this series. If Williamson pens any more issues, sign me up.

  1. Some official continuity of Jason as Robin, Dick as a very early costumed nightwing and Starfire, Nightwing and arsenal all together.

  2. I think it changed a bunch of fangirls minds as far as giving this book a try. Starfire actually showed characterization here, emotion, and a very kick ass feminist point of view; where as, in her first appearance she mainly just did what Jason said and sexed it up just for funsies. I know I like her a lot better now.

This issue also has Dick/Starfire hints, which probably helps get some of us gals back too. I mean, not all of us are Barbara/Dick fans.
