I’ll be honest I like Jason Todd. I like that he is an quippy asshole who doesn’t abide by Bruce’s sense of justice, so putting him together with Roy Harper and Starfire makes for an interesting “family” dynamic to say the least. Lobdell knows this fact and works it very well in this first issue, the interactions are playful and not overly dramatic like some books, and the action and character scenes play out like a solid action comic. What sold the book for me was the art. Rocafort’s work is absolutely energetic to say the least and even though there seem to be some rough panels when it comes to distance shots overall he captures the feel of the book. For a first issue it is very strong in my personal opinion (I have now read it 10 times and each time I smile) and I’m sure I will be picking up the book every month.
