Christos Gage and Stephen Segovia have taken a charecter who has had a rough time since his creation . Ragman was one of the charecters who suffered during the implosion of the 70s , when many charecters lost their titles because of the evconomy . Since then he has bounced from title to title , looking for a team that could do justice to his unique charecteristics .Well Christos Gage and company did just that , they took what amounted to an origin story and added a unique twist .

 The story starts with Rory Reagan having a therapy session with a Rabbi , to deal father issues . Rory wants to know why his father was ashamed of being a jew , ironic when the Ragman was created as the defender of the jews . Ragman was created as an alternative to the Golem , which was a lesss than successful attempt at creating a guardian . The Ragman was created specifically to bond with a human soul to stop that from happening .

  As I said the story is essentally a series of flashbacks telling the story of how the Ragman fought to save the Jews from the middle ages to the ghettoes of Warsaw during WW2. That is when Rory's father became the guardian of the suit . This story could very well have been a maudlin attempt of every cliche in the book . Fortunatly Gage was smart enought avoid doing that . He seems to have a genuine love of the charecter and I can't wait to see him return to the world of Rory Reagan as soon as possible . Perhaps if we are very lucky we can see Mr Gage write a Batman / Ragman cross over as soon as possible .

 The art is the only disappointment and it is not a huge problem . My only complaint is that it is a little to Image like . I think that perhaps Kelley Jones would have been a better choice but that is a personal choice .

Overall this is a good book , its too bad that it is only a one shot .Perhaps DC would'nt mind giving us an ongoing or at the very least a mini series in the very near future .
