It’s been a long time since this series had a new issue. Seven months actually, not like I’m counting or anything. But there was a justifible reason for it with Steve Dillon getting very ill and unable to keep up with the book. I can’t hold that against him and let me be clear that the lateness is not going to affect my enjoyment of the book. It’s just going to be another fucked up (to be it lightly) issue by Jason Aaron with Dillon doing the art. Sounds good to me.

With the issue standing on it’s own, it was a good issue but not great. Once again we see Aaron showing us more why Bullseye in this universe is more crazy then the regular version. I did like it how he mainly stayed in one position for the majority of the issue. But he can still be creepy as hell and dangerous just staying focused in one position. The rest of the issue? Well it really does seem more of an issue to catch up on the plot and reinforcing what is going on in this arc. In the grand scheme of things very little time has moved from the first page to the next and the real action will happen next month. It’s a shame because I was expecting a big brawl here but nothing came from it. Dillon shows why he is great for this series with some great action sequences and much improved character designs. But again I wish something more would happen here then just talking heads.

I’m glad this series is back and I can’t wait to see where this is gonna go. Jason Aaron, I’m sure, is going to make this a real fucked up final fight and Steve Dillon will definitely make it glorious in all of its gore. It’s just a shame that with such a long wait that all we get here is just recap and nothing else.

  1. I agree with you.  This issue was just a slow burn in comparison to what I thought was coming.  Maybe it would have been more effective an issue had it come out when it was supposed to.  I enjoy this crazy ass Bullseye, and next issue will be righteous.
