I reviewed Punisher last month and I'm not sure I've got that much new to say, but there are no reviews at the moment and that, to me, is a crying shame.  I love this book at the moment, it's a glorious romp, true to the essential character of Marvel U Frank Castle but daring to take him into new and uncharted territory.  It's brutal and bloody (check out the final fate of Manphibian!) yet there's depth to it at the same time.  I feel like there's plenty to sink my teeth into, from the conversations between the Monster Hunters to the references to historical Marvel lore.

The art is from Roland Boschi, last seen on Jason Aaron's Ghost Rider run. I loved his Heaven's On Fire work and he's a great fit here too.  In many ways this is a good companion to Aaron's grindhouse epic, and Boschi connects the two nicely.  It's got this really sketchy yet flowing style to it, but there's plenty of detail at the same time.  What makes it really stellar though is the contribution from Lee Loughridge and Dan Brown on colours.  The palette shifts all the time to reflect the action on the page.  The two blood red pages just past the middle, where Frank is shooting his way through stacks of undead soldiers is just glorious.

My message is simple: forget whatever reservations you had about the direction Remender was heading in people.  The Punisher rides a friggin' dragon for crissakes!!!!
