I would like to hang out with the crew that blesses me with Prophet every month. The level of creativity and depth in this book seems to be a testament to the dedication, courage, and overall character of the creators. Prophet shows us what a comic can do that no other form of storytelling can deliver.

After a one issue hiatus, this issue brings us back to the space adventure of crew aboard the Insula Tergum as they travel to the remains of a dead space brain and the ruins of its followers. There we board a living, self-replicating “space ship” where we are treated to all the sci-to greatness we have come to expect from this book.
The writing in this issue is great and the characters perform flawlessly, demonstrating emotion in both word and action. There is laughter, fun, excitement, and even a little love. It all flows perfectly, packing it in without rushing or cutting corners. For the first time we are also given some scary moments, driving home what the Earth Empire really represents, and the back-up was borderline horror. Awesome! The way Prophet incorporates Extreme Studios characters continues to excite the 10 year old boy in me that once loved these characters and does it in such smart ways.

Prophet does not look awesome in an “Immonen” way, but its awesome nonetheless and very easily followed. It has to be read to be appreciated fully. The story is told primarily through the pictures and coloring, and does so in a way that resonates to your soul. I can’t think of another book like it. The body language is vivid. The colors descriptive. This issue more than most really seemed to pop off the page with all of the bright yellows and blues, and when yellow and blue made green I was blown away (how do they come up with this shit!?). You can tell that Milongiannis and Bergin have these characters dialed and this issue is extremely consistent.

I can’t think of anything bad to say about this issue. It has it all and really shows that this team has hit its stride.
