After such a long delay, I wasn’t even sure that I wanted to pick this book up. I’m glad I did. After almost twelve years, I still really love the world that Bendis and Oeming have created here. I fell into those same old Powers rhythms and reading this made me want to break out my old issues and revisit my old favorites.

In this issue we get so many of the things that makes Powers great. Walker, Pilgrim and Walker’s new partner (I forget her name and don’t have the issue with me) investigate a murder and Bendis has fun contrasting the new detective’s shock with Pilgrim’s “been there, seen that” attitude about the extreme gore that Oeming clearly loves drawing so much. We also get a wonderful scene between Walker and Pilgrim where they both reflect on how long they’ve come. Great stuff.

As long as Bendis and Oeming can keep the quality this high, I can forgive them the delays.
