Power Girl has been one of my favorite comics since I started reading it a few months back and there seems to be no sign of this changing. Each month I wait for the book to disappoint me, even a little bit, but thus far it has not happened. If anything, this book only seems to be getting better. I loved the past arc because of the cheesy sci fi and overall goofy nature. This issue is not near as funny and does not include the cheesy sci fi aspects that I loved, however, I still enjoyed it just as much if not more . There are still some great, funny parts in this book, most notably a naked Karen Star covering herself with a neighbors groceries, but the overall story with Satanna is much more serious than the past arc with Vartox. The thing about this book though, is that the creative team of Palmiotti and Conner are so good at what they do, that the book can work on so many levels. Palmiotti always manages to incorporate humor and great action into the story, be it a more serious issue like this one or those in the first arc, or the less serious and more comical stories like the past two issues. That combined with Amanda Conner's amazing artwork makes this one of the most fun books out there to read.
As for the highlights of this issue; the beginning, as I mentioned, was great with PG bursting out of her apartment in a towel to chase down the boy who slipped a photo of her changing into her costume under her door. She ends up losing the towel and has to cover herself with a neighbor's groceries. This was pretty funny, especially with Conner adding in PG's cat reacting to the ordeal as PG runs in to throw some clothes on. I was also glad to see that we are going to start finding out who it is that knows Karen Star and Power Girl are the same person. Apparently its this kid, even though he told her someone (who fit the description of the Joker) paid him to do it. I also like that we are seeing Satanna's plan come into action, as she has been planning revenge on PG since her battle with Ultra Humanite. The fight with the various animal people and with Satanna herself was great, especially with the creative gadgets that were conjured up to actually hurt PG. Of course, the highlight of the issue was Conner's artwork; from the cover to the last page she simply does an amazing job with this book and is probably the biggest reason that it is as good as it is.
Overall, this is my pick of the week again, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next as Terra has come to save the day.
