This book was one of the worst things I read this week.  It’s clear to me that this writer has not written this character on a regular basis before.  If I’m wrong please correct me and if I am Holy Crap how did this person get their job?  Seriously one of the first things in this book is about how she constantly forgets things.  I’d like to give you an excerpt of the character from her Wikipedia page:

“Gordon is also written as having a genius-level intellect and naturally possessing a photographic memory.”

This is supposed to be one of the core things to her character.  She used to be able to watch someone do martial arts and copy it way back in the day (this may be Pre-Crisis info).

I know after reading Twitter that I’m not the only one who didn’t catch this.  Also Barbara didn’t seem anywhere near as strong of a character as she is normally written.  I can understand being shaken up because of Final Crisis and the end of BoP, but she has always seem like a rock to me.  I really feel like she needs to be because of what she’s went through.  This book just makes her out to be sad and almost a little helpless, at least how I read it.

About the only good thing I can say about this book is the art.  I almost feel like the talent is being wasted on this one.  I very rarely say this about a book, but don’t read this.  You’re wasting money, time, and making someone think they’re a good writer.  Mr. Vanhook if you’re going to screw up a character, go do it somewhere else, like Marvel maybe.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 3 - Good

  1. Whoa, harsh!

I don’t think someone losing track of time while working on something is any indicator of thier intelligence level. Maybe the line of "I suck at remembering dinner plans" was a mistake by the writer, not knowing about her photographic memory, or maybe Barbara was beating herself up for losing track of time?

Why can’t she be sad, though? Like you said, she has been through a lot lately & she is only human. I don’t see what you saw of her being helpless in this issue either, I didn’t see that at all.
