If there is a God then I have one question for him:

Why do you hate fun?

Seriously dude! What is your problem with fun? Cause I don’t know about you, but I am having a fucking ball with OMAC and now it’s cancelled. Can’t we have nice things anymore oh Lord? I open the pages into this (sadly) penultimate issue of the series and the smile did not disappear from my face until I closed the book. Can’t we work something out Father?

….Fine….We’ll help ourselves out….AGAIN!

Blasphemy aside this was a fucking great issue wasn’t it? Dan Didio and Keith Giffen CLEARLY have a ton of fun working on this book. You know why? Cause nothing about this series makes any goddamn sense and that’s quite fine. I don’t need an explanation, or a full one, on why an ape is experimenting on animals and has it’s own ‘Evil Factory’. Just quickly introduce it and let’s see some punching! The depths of insanity knows no bounds in this one. Page after page it’s just gets crazier and the fun just could not end for me. Of course the animals Kevin Kho meet have distinct personalities like stuttering or being paranoid. Of course a zebra is called ‘Stripesy’ and a boar is called ‘Tuskey’….That actually happens in this! Also I didn’t even get into the Kamandi references which is the highlight for me in this book cause I love that series after just reading the omnibus a couple of weeks ago in a Barnes and Noble.

This is truly a love letter to Kirby from the writing right down to the gorgeous artwork in this. Considering we’re back to Giffen in this issue the Kirby homage continues. Even the animals have the Kirbyesque chins and pectoral muscles! There isn’t as many Kirby dots in this issue though. Many there was a budget and Giffen used it all up in the Superman fight? Either way there is just too many things to love about this issue so I’ll just be gushing at this point.

So once again O’Lord, you have depressed me. You can’t even make a book written by one of the ‘big wigs’ of DC stay in publication for very long. Credit where credit is due; Dan Didio has written himself one of the best (and most insane) comics DC has to offer. I’m sure Keith Giffen is helping a lot too but Giffen’s art is what really stands out in his contributions. At the end of the day I am sadden we cannot have this series for very long.

….However, even with my blasphemy Lord I do have a suggestion and I might even pray it to you:

Can we have a Kamandi series by Dan Didio and Keith Giffen? Cause with the hints in this issue, I swear the world could use another Jack Kirby tribute in our lives. Think about it…
