As another arc ends this title still seems to be somewhat under the radar.  Books like Scalped get a lot of the kudos, and deservedly so, but Brian Wood is really coming up with the goods here.  Each story isn’t just a different period of viking history, or fresh characters, it’s a completely different genre of story set with a viking backdrop.  This one is Viking detective/forensic/manhunt territory.  Same old, same old!

While I’m not sure it needed six months to tell the story the ending was well worth the wait.  There’s a twist in the tale revealed in the last two parts, but it’s not jarring or gratuitous.  Kelly’s art is breathtaking and perfect, as is the colour.  My favourite aspect however, has to be the script.  It’s the aspect that’s drawn criticism in the past, as Wood goes for a contemporary use of language, but I find it works.  Each issue just flows really easily, so take the recommendation as this book is perfect for the trades.

Story: 4 - Very Good
