I haven’t read a single issue of Nightwing since The NEw 52, but I’ve been enjoying the Owls storyline enough that I wanted to read as many of the Night Owls issues as I could. Despite the awful cover (Is that owl dancing with an invisible giant at a prom? Playing an invisible accordian? Taking a loaf of bread out of an oven?), I enjoyed the issue. It’s a great starting point if you haven’t been reading Snyder’s Batman but wanted to get into the crossover.

There are a lot of broken glass panel layouts, but Barrows makes them work. He also has some truly creepy facial expressions in this issue. It definitely put me on board for the coming issues of Night Owls.

  1. I’m going to check this out also because of the Night of the Owls storyline. I’m hoping this is as good as you say, might buy the TPB of the previous ones then.

About the cover, he just threw some knives, they’re right there on the cover.

    • I know that he threw knives, but the pose, I think, is supposed to look cool and threatening, but I think it looks silly. I enjoyed his interior art much more.
