Another not actually Seige book with the Seige brand.  If you’re just reading Seige tie-ins so you can keep up with the story, you can skip this one.  But if you’re in for a fun Bendis romp centered on the two Caps, Spidey and Spider-Woman, this is a great read.  I was a little worried at seeing the art was split between Immonen and Acuna, but it’s done with reasons.  Immomen doing the Cap and Hood pages, while Acuna does the Spiders.  It’s quite more effective than affected.  As we appear to be counting down to the end of this title, , I”m lking the direction this could go, and enjoying the hell out of the fact that Bendis appears to be having a lot of fun with this book again.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent

Comments

  1. I agree that the story was a lot of fun, and the interplay between the pairs of characters in here was great. However, I thought the art looked a bit rushed and unfinished. Maybe that was just me.

  2. @jabroniunc – It is not just you.  I had the same exact reaction to the art (but also enjoyed the book as a whole).

  3. Glad to know it wasn’t just me. And to be clear, I really liked the story, and the dialogue between Spider-Man and Spider Woman was absolutely great.

  4. Totally agree with the love of the interplay, particularly btwn the Spiders.  Agree on the art as well, which is weird because I normally love both these guys.  The final page of the Mandrill was nice and creepy, though.
