This was a good comic. As someone who likes the Avengers (THE Avengers, got that? Not this “Dark Avengers” b.s. the world could do without). During Secret Invasion I really learned to dislike Brian Bendis, but my desire to read a book that feels important to the Marvel U lead me to pick this up. As an “event book” I should expect this to be a book about the happenings of the Marvel U as a whole, and this issue suggests that this is exactly what we’re getting. Bendis knows how to write these characters in such a way as to make you care about them, and Tan’s art looks fantastic (and certainly not like anything else I’m reading).

So, yeah. It’s a good comic. Good story, good storytelling, and more interesting than the event it’s following up on.
