Ka-Zar and Shanna the She-Devil, and Billy Tan on art. How could you go wrong? You need more, you say? Ok, how about a look back at another angle of one of the earliest New Avengers storylines? I always wondered why Ka-Zar didn't make an appearance during the new Avengers first foray into the Savage Land. That's Ka-Zar's domain, for god's sake! But now we see maybe Ka-Zar was around, and there was a lot more going on than the Avengers thought.
I say maybe because this whole story is recounted by Ka-Zar to Spidey when they meet up at some point after Secret Invasion #2. And Ka-Zar could easily be a Skrull and this whole story just something he cooked up. But that would be really lame, wouldn't it? I mean, if Bendis & Co., are going to churn out story after story where it all turns out to be Skrull lies, that's just basically stealing from us, isn't it? Besides, in ka-Zar's story Shanna kicks some major Skrull/S.H.E.I.L.D. ass!!! And I'd like to think that's real.
So, I believe this is Ka-Zar and Shanna, which is why it's a bit odd that Spidey doesn't at the end. He says it doesn't add up, which is nonsense to me, because in fact it seems to make everything add up. Maybe it's just Spidey's level of untrustiness at this point. Or maybe his Spidey sense is acting up about something. I seriously thought Zabu was going to turn into a Skrull for a minute, but then the Skrull Captain America shows up all angry, so probably that was what set off Spidey's spidey sense. I guess..
But seriously, what's the point of even having a Skrull Captain America? It's patently impossible for him to be the real Captain. Although... instead of being a Skrull Captain America, he could be a human clone of Steve Rogers. From the last issue of New Avengers it seems that the Skrulls have the ability to clone humans as well. That would actually be slightly interesting.
Ok, so I wasn't sure for a minute after I finished this if it was a good story or not. But I guess if I have this much to say about what went down, it couldn't have been too bad. The art by Billy Tan was good as well. I've seen him do more polished work and there was nothing groundbreaking or amazing about the layouts. But a good, solid issue overall.

i got this issue early. course i’m not gonna be a deusche and write a review before anybody else gets a chance to read it. tha’s just me tho’
@ FACE, hmmmm, you know i think you’re right!
I like reviews. I like secret Skrulls. I like Ka-Zar, Spidey and even Steve Rogers clones. You know what I REALLY like? I really like how comic reviews will actually tell you if there are spoilers, so "deusches" don’t have to read them!
Sweet review
You know what I REALLY like? I really like chocolate pop-tarts and women. I eat them everyday! 🙂
This was almost as pointless as the sentry issue of Mighty. Just pointless. I can’t believe that the first third of SI is going to take place in the Savage Land.
Just a really boring issue with characters who don’t matter in the big picture. He Tarazan, she Jane, book pointless.
@FACE – I wasn’t trying to show anyone up or anything. I’m just so piqued by this book that i had to get my thoughts out.
