There are four stories in this anthology, and two of them are short and sweet while two of them are just short, and kind of dull. The first story is about Jubilee coming to terms with being depowered, and left out of the X-Men. C.B. Cebulski does a good job of showing how depressed Jubilee feels. She continues to wear an “X” necklace, and apparently spends hours at San Francisco Bay staring out at Utopia. This story makes me wonder how a “freakish” looking mutant like Beast might accept having been depowered. Such a character might see M-Day as having been a blessing. The second story is about a battle of wits between the villainous psychic Quentin Quire and heroic psychic Martha “Brain in a Bottle” Johansson. Martha has always been a sympathetic character given that a villain took her body, and the reader feels happy to see her triumph over Quire. But, c’mon, isn’t it time poor Martha got a new body? There are lots of people in the Marvel universe who can build her a robotic version, and even some who can grow her a clone body. After all, James Rhodes got a clone body.
At this point the X-Men have a number of psychics on the team, and a bunch of cool adversaries (Shadow King, Cassandra Nova, Goblin Queen) who are psychics. I’m not normally a great fan of crossovers, but the X-Universe now has the potential for a great crossover featuring the evil psychics battling against the X-Men with their heroic psychics in the lead.
The last two stories are character pieces that don’t reveal much character. Northstar misses his boyfriend. Ho hum. We all know that absence makes the heart grow fonder – for another. Maybe it would have been more interesting if the lonely and horny Northstar made a pass at Shatterstar in “X-Factor.” In the last story, Gambit doesn’t know whether he is a hero or a villain, or whether he should remain an X-Man, and his answer comes in far too pat a fashion.
The art in the first two stories is more dynamic and expressive than the art in the second two.

Informative review. I appreciated the update on Jubilee. And double-spacing your write-up made it easy on the eyes.
