Crapity-Crapfully Crap Crap Crap!!!

So I’ve been railing against what Ms. Marvel has become under the Dark Reign banner, espeically in relation to the heights that it had soared to under Brian Reed’s watchfl eye. But then there was the incredibly transparent death of Carol Danvers followed by the I-don’t-care-about-this-character story of Karla Sofen, and then the indecipherable mess of the war of the Marvels, which involved genetically-altered alien M.O.D.O.O.K. babies in jars and some nonperson named Catherine Donovan. Not too much of it made any kind of sense. I didn’t care about it, and I secretly hoped the series would just stop coming out. But I didn’t cancel my subscription out of loyalty and a faith that the quality of the previous issues would win out and return once this nonsense was over.

And then I ended up liking this story in the end. And it’s mostly because Reed came back around to good character storytelling. There was a finale that was interesting and meaningful for Karla Sofen. It kinda made me care about her. And that’s quite a feat because previously I couldn’t even muster enough energy to dislike Moonstone.

I still think it was a weak arc overall, and there were a lot of unanswered questions. I’m still not sure whether or not Carol Danvers is back whole or not. I hope she is, or will be soon, because that was the whole reason I was buying this book. Carl Danvers was on a path, not neceassarily of redemption, but of finding a greater purpose for herself. And then she got screwed over by one tie-in after another. Please Marvel, let Carol have her book back again.
