Despite my love of the first few issues of the series, I’m having some reservations about this title.  It’s not that Morning Glories has gotten overly bad.  It’s not that at all.  The book is expertly constructed with clear storytelling, excellent dialogue, interesting characters, and a unique look.  On paper, it sounds perfect, right?  But for me, there’s just something missing.  I think my main beef with the title at this point is that there is absolutely no clarity to the mystery surrounding the book.  Watching the teenagers and adults play a game of cat and mouse is fun, but what exactly are they playing for?  And why are the teenagers in this situation?  And just what the hell is going on?  I enjoy a good mystery as much as the next guy, but I also like my mystery to have some digestible bread crumbs.  While I’m sure Spencer has been seeding the story with clues, they haven’t been good enough or satisfying enough to really get me to sink my teeth into this title.  To me, it seems that this is one of those instances where the creators know the story so well, they forget that the readers don’t know anything.  I’m sure I’m alone in feeling this way about the book, and I’m ok with that.  Not everything is for everyone, and maybe, in this case, Spencer’s writing is just not doing it for me.  I will probably pick up next issue, just because it completes the arc, and maybe, there will be enough story movement to keep me on the series.  But if that issue is anything like this, I’m probably going to drop the title.
