I need to state that I had no intention of picking this book up. My local comics guru, Comicazzi Mike, only ordered a few and decided to put one aside for me in the chance I wanted it. So glad he did! It’s without a doubt the best Cassaday cover in a while. The plot may be a bit on the contrived side but the way that Ben McCool turns and twists the expected standard conventions worked for me. Think Twilight Zone if Serling were writing for today’s audience. Nikki Cook’s art on this book harkens back to the early days of the black and white, slightlya irregular looking indie comics (the ones that always looked a little too rushed) and the story works well with her stylistic choices. Ben Long’s lettering is adequate, it doesn’t detract anyway, and that’s always a plus. Being only six issues makes the $3.50 cover price a little easier than committing to a new series right now. If you enjoy titles like Morning Glories, DMZ, Walking Dead, or, the old Black Hole series, then grab a copy today!
