So i really like the art but the story is derivative of a lot of things and that bugs me.
Most obvious is the Hitchhikers guide to the galalxy planet building, but also ideas from Idiocracy, as well as the whole johnny storm being pretty much straight out of the movie, which is more forgivable but still irksome.  why is it that a lot of the characters in the marvel u have been devolving in terms of what they had become. Johnny hasn't acted this self absorbed in a while, and to see him back to that, and in such a heavy handed way, makes it feel like he is acting out of character.

This has been the first reason for me to pick up the book since Waid's amazing run, which i think held the closest idea of what the fantastic four should be, but i think that at the end of the day Waid is going to have had the better run for story, and Hitch will have the better run for art. But i'm a story guy so I am going to be dropping this title like it's annoying me a bit too much for it to be entertaining.

I think this review is quite fair. The story is not quite as innovative as it could have been. I liked the art, but was not wowed by it. And making the Torch shallow isn't a good direction.

I'll score 3/4.
