One of the first “weird” comic books I ever read was The Maxx.  And while I still love the first few chapters of that story, I was always saddened that it seemed to lose the plot as it went on.  One thing I always loved, however, was Keith’s art.  So you can imagine how excited I was for the Batma/Lobo crossover he did a couple of years ago.  The art was…I mean…ok, so the art wasn’t great…it was…adequate?  But the story?  Whewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww?   That story was foul.  No good.  Bad.  Awful.  Yikes.  Wowsers.  Party foul.  Why oh why oh why did I read that?

Lobo: Highway To Hell is, at the very least, much better than that.

Scott Ian is a much more fluid storyteller than Kieth.  While I don’t find his humor uproarious, it certainly sets up the kind of person Lobo is.   The same joke played over and over again.  Not very funny, but somewhat endearing.

And the art?  Man, is Kieth at the top of his game here.  I could have seen the art before they put the word and thought balloons in, and followed the story perfectly.  If you’ve ever enjoyed Kieth’s work, you’re probably going to love this title.  If you were never too keen on it, ehhh, check it out, anyway.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
