This book has a bit of the pinache that I've found more in the indy lines than I have with any of the major publishers.  The character S28 is a typical super personality/megalomaniac that one would see if a real life American were to acquire super powers.  My problem with a lot of the Marvel/DC mutant or super characters is that its hard to see as much of ones self in them compared to characters like Plutonian from Irredeemable and S28.  To truly embrace god-like powers one must also embrace the reality that it would be difficult not to consider yourself above the rest of the human race.

I see two predominant dynamics involved in this story: 1) the ideas I expounded upon above and, 2) the need to put someone like that down.  I relate to both because ever since I started reading comics the attraction has been both the fantastical and human elements that have kept me coming back for more.  What I find in S28 is an oppurtunity to satiate those cravings for this duality in a 15-20 minute read.

This comic seems to have a lot of contempt for both the idea of a super hero and the sheepish masses that listen to and admire them.  This is refreshing in its realism.
