Thank god I stayed with this series for one more issue! Otherwise I would’ve missed the cheesiest, yet most heartwarming end I have ever seen for a writer. For months now I’ve thought that Johns should’ve left the title right after the Gog story; cause that whole Kingdom Come ending was perfect enough for me. Here though; Johns weaves in an overall tribute to Stargirl and the rest of the JSA…..and it just feels like a great ending ya know?

I loved all the moments in this issue. From everyone reminscing the good old days to just everyday problems. I mean what other comic are you gonna see people in ridiculous outfits buy Rocky Road ice cream?……Other then a WaWa at 2am? Plus the Starman stuff in this; oh my god I am going to miss John’s writing Starman. Some of the best stuff your gonna see with that character in this issue. Some of the writing is a bit too cheesy at times; like the whole like ‘hey remember this moment!’ about Stargirl or that scene in the dentist office….Now that is just down right insanity what the JSA did in that office. But overall it was just heart-melting, sincere moments that Johns has done perfectly in 23 issues (ignoring the recent Black Adam arc).

I’m also going to miss Eagleshame on this title. It’s not going to be JSA without seeing his pencils working their magic on Wildcat, or Jay Garrick, or even everyday people in the background. A lot of people joke about how some people look like they are on ‘roids sometimes. I never say that in any issue of this series. or was too blind to notice. Some of the best artwork in a DC book and now it’s going to be gone. It’s a tough pill to sallow. Cause clearly it’s going to take an even better artist to make me like the art in a JSA book. Which is tough cause Eaglesham is the perfect artist for this title.

It’s sentimental and sweet, those are the two keywords in this issue. A great send-off on a creative team that just knew how to write and draw a team book. Geoff Johns has done JSA before and has left the series before. But I dont think we’ll ever see Johns back on this title anymore; especially Eaglesham isnt coming back (now that he’s a Marvel exclusive). But read this issue as it’s ment to be. A warming tale of Stargirl’s birthday and dential appointment….or a finale for Johns/Eaglesham; whatever works for you.

Story: 5 - Excellent
