  1. I dropped this book after last issue. I know Johns is coming to the end of his run, and I really disliked the last issue so your review justifies my dropping of this book.

  2. I would guess that it takes place before Final Crisis.  But you shouldn’t let this sort of thing bug you too much.

    And wasn’t Mary’s new look always Hideous?  For me, no one can make that rediculous look attractive.

    How was the Origins & Omens backup?

  3. @drake: No this clearly takes place after FC, Mary’s new look clearly shows this.

    The origins thing….it was okay. I have been indifferent with those for the most part. But I would’ve killed to have that artist on the main story instead of the back up.

  4. @TNC-From what I flipped through in the store, Mary had the nasty black outfit with pink hair…which she appeared in in FC.  How are you so sure its after FC now but were so confused before?  Not criticizing or anything.  I just haven’t read this, so I’m curious

  5. @Drake: Gah I am confusing myself on what I’m confused about! >_<;

    I said I was confused on when does the Gog storyline happenend now. Cause I thought this arc picked up directly after Gog. But now I’m lead to believe the team was a-ok for a couple of days, then Darseid happenend for a couple of months, now they fight Black Marvel family.

    It’s confusing to me on when this and the previous epic arc is suppose to take place.

    Either way this wasnt a well written issue to begin with if we take those references out.

  6. I started reading this book regularly about six months ago. It was great. I may not have known all of the characters, but Johns did a great job of juggling plot and relationships.

    Last issue was disappointing, but this issue was well below par. Last issue did not at all follow from the end of the Gog storyline, and this issue seems only tangentially connected to the prior issue. There was more about the Marvels than any of the JSA characters.

    And the art – TNC, you are dead on. Ordway is not succeeding here. Eaglesham was a much better fit.
