Well, the streak had to end sooner or later. Up until this issue, I’ve been giving all the DCnU #1’s really favorable reviews, and dammit, I REALLY enjoyed the last maxi-series to come out of this team. Justice League: Generation Lost was a solid series from beginning to end, and it lead directly into this #1. It’s hook was incredibly enticing if not a little simple. Maxwell Lord makes himself forgotten by the entire world except for our main characters, and he made them look bad at every turn. You got that from the first issue and off we went. Sadly, this #1 is extremely bland. Superheroes are picked to represent the UN and they’ll go on adventures. Maybe the new characters that I’m not familiar with are going to be interesting in the future, but there isn’t a hint of that potential here. And there isn’t any humor to speak of, at ALL. Batman gets along with Guy Gardner, Gardner doesn’t think Booster should be the leader. They fight subterranean dirt monstzzzzzzzzzzzzzz…..

uh oh, It may be time to turn on the Judd Winick symbol
I’d have picked this up if Winick was on board. (sad face)
If you like Winick, check out his BATWING #1, hitting stores today. Read it and it’s really solid!
