I was really excited for this 1st issue, but came away a bit disappointed. I was hoping for something as fun and accessible as the previous Zatanna series, but this issue made me feel like i needed to do research which is something i just hate as a reader…especially for a #1 issue. I would have loved a cold open with the entire team fighting mystical bad guys, and then focus on the backstory later. As a result i’m not very enthusiastic for the next issue, and might just forget to pick up issue #2.
