Did James Robinson decide to write a parody of bad nineties ‘extreme’
books and forget to tell everybody? Because if we are supposed to take Cry for Justice seriously... This comic is filled with so much poor
writing and nonsense that it is approaching Jeph Loeb on Hulk levels. Oh look
two of our lead characters randomly meet up on Blackhawk Island (of all places) and decide for
no real good reason (and in a way that really seems at odds with one of the
characters supposedly long lived and learned nature) get into a fight before
discovering that they are conveniently not only both orgasming lately whenever
the word justice is mentioned but also both after the same group of still
wholly undefined badguys. You know a book that is supposed to be all
about heroes getting proactive and taking the fight to the villains would be
well served by establishing by the end of issue 2 a memorable villain
to play with. Oh and the less said about the threesome debacle the better.

Art: 4 - Very Good
Hmmm. Pretty gumpy review. Yep, it is just shocking that two comic book characters would start swinging first and talking later. Of course, that particular trope has been central to both DC and (even more so) Marvel’s plotting for the better part of the last thirty years.
Wow, couldn’t disagree with this review more. Mikaal and Bill didn’t "randomly" meet up. It was explained that they were both tracking people that led them there. That’s no worse plotting than a zillion other comics. I felt this book was all about the characters meeting up and finding similar interests. I liked the revelations of character between each of the heroes. GL’s threesome anecdote wasn’t about using women as sexual objects — not every mention of sexuality means that that’s ALL the character is about. This, in particular, was a way of showing GL’s character and what he does and what he’d rather be known for. While not a perfect comic, I certainly didn’t find find it a "poor" one.
