Another one?

First off, the title – good call in dropping the “America”. It’s not unpatriotic it just sounds better – bigger.

Downloaded my copy yesterday afternoon and read it on the way home. If you haven’t tried reading a comic on a tablet or a turned-over laptop, it’s worth noting the zoom-in option allowing readers to focus on each panel a part from the overall page. In reading a comic this way you are prevented from spoilers within the entire page and in my opinion it lengthens the comic. Bottom line I did not miss holding a print copy in my hand. Not one iota.

Back to the book. As far a first issues go it’s quite good. Knowing that these characters are new to each other but that we in essence know so much about them made for an exciting read. The dialogue between Batman and Green Lantern was clever and spirited. Lee’s pencils were terrific, no rust to speak of.

As far as plotting… well it’s the start of something. I don’t doubt that the pay off will satifying and SPOILER they end up forming the Justice League.

Overall a fine “welcome to the DC Universe”.

I only wish we didn’t have to wait a whole month for the next issue.
