At last we have arrived at the new age of the DC Universe. With all the big changes going on, its easy to get swept up in the hype of all this. But I must admit that this is what happened to me. I was eagerly anticipating Justice League and I was so desperately hoping that this will be the book to kick start the movement to change comic history. Has this book delivered? To me, that is a definite YES.

A major concern for me was that the story would not quell that itch for a big team, heavy hitter book. I realized that if anyone should do it, it aught to be Geoff Johns. Although it didn’t quite satisfy with the team aspect, I certainly do love the way he is handling the characters. The dialogue between Batman and Green Lantern as they tease and bicker was handled masterfully. Although I can get the sense of a slow burn story, it doesn’t quite matter with the characters written so well. Although these characters are years old, there’s a sense of freshness about them. Old seems to be new again, which is probably the point.

Now the art is where this book truly shines. Jim Lee’s work on this book puts his other work to shame. The art is fantastic to see and certainly comes to life during key points throughout the story. Although some might say his art is better left in the past, this book shows that things get better over time. Hopefully the same can be said about the book as a whole.

Although I am probably just swept up in the hype of everything that’s going on, it is fun to be enthusiastic about the future of this company. Although it has some flaws(namely the lack of an actual team), Justice League did exactly what it needed to do…get me excited for what is to come.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
