Round 2.  So I would have to say that this is my POW.  The art was decent for this book and the backup story in the back, but nothing to write home about.  Once again some classic artwork going on this week I can appreciate.

The big thing this book did for me was finally make me like David or the new Magog.  So far I saw no reason to like him to this point, frankly he needed this issue.  So far the only thing we got was that he was your stereotypical soldier boy that was the great grandson of our 32 president.

I kept wondering why he was fit in with so many characters.  As always Johns showed us later in JSA why, to become Magog.  This week Tomasi, showed us what made him so special.  Magog is a true believer in what he does and is loyal to his teammates as proven by what he does for his Eplison team.

Oddly enough the best part of this book was the backup story in the back.  I love Starman in the JSA.  I find him fantastic and I think it goes back to my love for the Legion that I read growing up.  I found that the information here was something else I’ve been waiting for.  Unfortunately we still have to wait to figure out the big picture.

Overall this book was a Solid 3, the art was good and the writing was well needed for Johns’s overall JSA storyline he is working on.  It’s a little sad that there are so many JSA members that we need one shots for their stories… but hey I’m not really complaining.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good
