While this month’s JIM isn’t up to the usual art snuff of Dougie Braithwaite, the pencils almost don’t matter with the confident storytelling being laid down by Kieron Gillen, clearly loving his ride on this book. If only JIM were bundled with Fear Itself, the latter might have made more sense to everyone and seemed more cohesive. In this one, Loki doesn’t even appear — it’s all Mephisto, acting like Truman Capote in Hell. Also, this features the best panel of the year: “The Devil likes his pretzels.”
