Sean Murphy is just killing it with this mini right now. Almost everything I saw in this book was gorgeous and had such a fine level of detail involved. The scenary got whackier but somehow he was able to make sense of the madness. I also love the panel layouts in this; especially when we go from the real world to the fantasy world. Murphy does a great job showing us where Joe is in reality with some key objects in the scenary. A water fall represents a fucet for a tub, or ‘Lord Arc’ represents the wind booming inside a room and also lighting outside. Again he just makes the madness and frenetic pace of this comic work because of his brilliant designs.

The story is a bit of a slow burn if I’m honest. There are some great stuff in this; like Lord Arc’s speech or Chakk the Yojimbo rodent. But for the most part I can definitely see why trade waiting is a good idea for most folks. For me, this is the Morrison I love to read so even if it is a slow paced story…..Sean Murphy and his talents will justify me getting it in issues for the next six months.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
