I feel that I must preface this review by admitting that ever since the events of Civil War, despite loving the movie, I have held an animosity towards Iron Man. That being said I still decided to give Invincible Iron Man a chance. When it comes to the art in this issue I have to agree with most of the ifanbase. In the panels with Tony in the armor the art looks good, but when he is just Tony Stark it seems off. The pages at the end of the issue at the party the people just feel off. In contrast to this, I am liking the pacing and the writing. The pages at the funeral are great. The fact that when a superhero does die, due to the secret identity the person they really are doesn't get the glory. The panel showing Iron Man looking at the grave site with just the priest and the immediate family standing in the rain is a powerful image. Then there is Thor. I have always had a love for Thor. Fraction adds a little of the comedic flair of the movie when Iron Man is complaining about Thor chipping his suit with Mjolnir. Overall I would say that Larroca's art leaves something to be desired, especially when it comes to faces. The coloring seems a bit off as well. Everyone seems to have the same skin tone. I look forward to seeing where Fraction will take Iron Man, but for now I like the direction his writing is taking us. Congratulations Marvel, that's another $2.99 you will be taking from me on a regular basis.
