I just finished the second issue of Jersey Gods and I must compliment both Glen and Dan for taking things up a notch. The first issue was a nice introduction and gave us a heck of a cliff hanger. The story was great and the art was amazing but it left me curious about things. Since I read the preview that was released in Invincible I just kept waiting to see how Zoe and Barack became a couple and felt like this was just going to be a quick way to get me there... I was wrong.
All of my preconceived notions from issue one were thrown out the door as I found incredibly entertaining dialogue and art to finish the first meeting of Zoe and Barack but not getting our intergalactic couple together too fast. The banter with Helios and Barack is real life guys harassing each other. Rushmore is a calming influence and voice of reason who knows how to dig at his friends when necessary but act like a grown up when needed. These characters are incredible. I find myself almost caring about them and what happens to them. I am frustrated with you guys that we only have two issues because I want to read two hundred issues and NOW.
Dan your art was cash money and on the spot. Those battle scenes to start off the book gave me goosebumps and got me excited the moment I opened the front cover. Your style makes me appreciate the book even more as a fun, entertaining comic that doesn't have to take every little detail serious. That is not a knock on your detail but rather your emphasis on the things that matter most when it comes to telling the visual part of the story.
You guys have a winner on your hand and I got excited to thing you have there years worth of story mapped out... I hope that is just three years to get us started. I want to be reading this book in twenty years and see the adventures of Grandpa Barack and his grand sons fighting the Evil Gods :D (okay maybe I am getting carried away).
This is a great book and I would like to thank the whole Jersey Gods Team for putting out a quality product and as the manage at my LCS said "wow this book is out again already? these guys are serious". I sincerly hope you are THAT serious. I will be picking up mine each month and I hope others do the same.
