A story about a good zombie who works in a graveyard, only eats the brains of the recently dead, and tries to avenger them; a zombie who has an occasionally depressed ghost friend she hangs out with.  That’s what I was hoping for in this series, and while that appears to be the main story, there’s also vampires running a paintball company to entrap victims.  There’s also a mummy with a cat who watches TV.  And there’s an X-Files style investigation team with two partners who don’t see eye to eye.

If this series had started out focused on just the zombie character and possibly one other supernatural element, I think it could slowly grow into a more wide-angle supernatual book.  As it is, there is too much “oooooooooooooooh, spoooooooooooooooky”, and not enough reasons to like or dislike the characters here.

Team Allred continues to deliver great art (Laura Allred’s colors are integral to the feel of Mike Allred’s inks), but I don’t know if I care enough about these characters to keep reading.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 4 - Very Good

  1. Damn you I was going to write a review I you just said everything I was going to but better.  I thought the same thing about the issue that it was all over the place.  I was interested in a tale about a zombie girl detective/gravedigger.  I had a feeling that the story would go off in a tangent like this with the introduction of the were-terrier last issue.  That said, I’ll probably drop this.

  2. Nope, I am going to stick it out and see where it goes. I have enough interest to follow at  least the first arc. The wrapped up guy, (I thought it was the invisible man at first) is responsible for the murder of Fred. She hasn’t gotten into many situations to really get a full read on her character, except that the memories interfere with the choices she makes.
