Rant:

I love being a comic geek. I love the books, I like the shirts and I like the nerd arguments. With the good comes the bad. Old school. What the hell is with the comic book community’s obsession with old school horse crap. “Ooh I like this because it harkens back to the silver age”. Progress people!

Here we have a book about corporate intrigue, war, sex, and the meaning of memory. And it’s got superheros in it. Fraction has, in one issue told me all that is right about superhero comics and all that was wrong. He kicked me in the nuts and said: “I don’t hate what came, but I’m going to where what’s coming.”

Yeah yeah yeah, you’re gonna list a bunch of books by dudes putting on an air of avant-gardism with occult practices and magic talisman jewelry and shaven heads and dirty beards and salty attitudes. Frauds! You’ve been fooled. Fraction has understood that the box out of which he is thinking is here to stay but it is malleable and profitable and accessible and he has tweeted about it.

I would go into specifics why this book kicks you’re artsy fartsy book’s ass but I don’t want to. I just wanna go read this four dollar piece of artistic brilliance! Over and over again.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
