If you’d have told me that Namor and Iron Man would duke it out for a whole issue back in 2007, I probably would have pitched a fit.  Of course, that was when Tony was doing his “I was completely f–ked over by Civil War so please come and whip my a$$” world tour and Namor probably would thrown some pretentious remarks Tony’s way, thrash him around, and then send him away to go find Red Hulk or Thor or whoever to do it all over again.  That was then.  This is now and Fraction in overdrive trying to that Clor-y stain from Tony’s character and undouchify (So I made up a word, big whoop, wanna fight about it?) Marvel’s latest movie cash cow.  Now, Tony needs to be cool again, so now when Namor shows up to fight, ol’ Shellhead gets mop the floor with him and a very happy Tork gets to rejoice.

This issue really is one of those things where something would be horribly, horribly wrong for me not to like it.  It’s my favorite Marvel character beating on what could very well be one of my least favorite Marvel characters.  I hate Namor.  He’s like Black Adam without the interesting motivations and Aquaman without the charm.  So, watching Iron Man take him out was fantastic, quite honestly.  I don’t even care that Namor’s kingdom is suddenly re-erected without explanantion after being blown up in the last Namor mini.  The art’s servicable for it needs to be and Fraction writes a good Iron Man/Namor fight.

Oh, and Maria and Iron Pepper have their own subplots and they’re good too.  Fun issue.  Waiting in antcipation for the next one.  Good job for Fraction.
