Invincible has been so so good for so so long that it’s easy to forget how crazily complex and compelling the Universe Kirkman has created really is. One look at the letter page of any issue reveals readers clamouring for returning characters and resolutions to dangling plot-lines, a testament to Kirkman’s ability to create ideas people WANT to see more of!

This also leads to crazy left-field stories like this one. Zandale has been in this comic for a while now and has been the TITLE CHARACTER for nine or so issues and we’re only just finding out his origin. His bat-shit crazy OTT origin. Which Kirkman immediately mocks in a wonderful page where he also sends up The Walking Dead #100 and its army of variant covers.

You just don’t get other super-hero comics with this level of creativity, ideas, total nonsense and no-limit craziness every single month. Especially not with art as consistently brilliant as Ryan Ottley, who once again brings the beautifully rendered surprise violence and wonderfully nuanced facial expressions in this issue.

Invincible is truly special, and it makes me veryhappy to see it approach triple digits.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
