I have a bad felling about this.

That is a bad feeling about this issue. With the impeding 60th issue of Invincible during closer I just couldn’t help but feel this was a one-off single issue written as a stop gap or a place holder or…. As your friend in line that has to stand around waiting for people to show up. It was just nothing. A feeling I am becoming more and more aware of in main stream comics today as stories run in holding patterns for the next invasion or crisis

The juxtaposion of primary coloured superheros with moments of absolute violence is a fantastic device Kirkman discovered. It is an almost immediate depiction of the repercussions and stupidity of super heroics. Along with the sit-com theme though out the Invincible title the subject of domestic violence should be noted; fathers beating children, friendship gone sour and in the issue spousal abuse. To that end, Kirkman’s done it again. In this issue a new character wanders into the main stage and ultimately kill his wife and child in a brutal manner.

So an old dog is playing at his old tricks – Biff! Bang! Violence! Next!
