Man this is a fun series.
You can really tell how much fun Pak and Van Lente are having writing it with
each passing issue.
All the random heroes thrown into death’s casino were great. I loved seeing the random movie references. I can totally see Herc using Netflix just as I can see Amadeus making his own web browser.
It’s a shame but I think Aegis has had more character development since he died than before it. And speaking of New Warriors, I was a little sad to see Namorita shooting dice.
I think my favorite aspect of this book is how complex the relationships are, and that was underlined by the scene with Hebe and Hera this issue.
The art was fun and fluid. Every character looked unique and dynamic. It is a wonder that Amadeus hasn’t fleeced casinos before.
I was left with a few questions though after reading this issue. Mostly, who was the guy with no arms and the fuzzy suit that looked like Namor at the end and does this mean that Pak and Van Lente actually have a plan to bring back Jack of Hearts or was does winning the jackpot really mean nothing in that casino?
Regardless love this book and love where it’s going.

The villain in question was Armless Tiger Man (no, really), a Golden Age Timely Comics villain.
