You need this.

You cant deny this anymore.

It wants you and you want it. Get the picture?

When I said on the site this was a perfect jumping on point I wasnt kidding. I mean it’s perfect because we are jumping 2-3,000 years into the past….so who needs continuity? This is basically an origin for Hercules and I think it’s a perfect time to do this. What I love about this series they underline the real origin and mythology of certain characters in this series. Now that we basically have mythology tale on our hands, Pak and Van Lente prove they can write a serious comic more so then a humor comic. I loved every single moment in this issue; I guess that makes me a mythology whore bur I did! From the early baby days of Herc to defending his city all represents what Herc is about. What I also love about this is that the cheesy ‘look at the history of Herc!’ type of pages are in this. If you know what I’m talking about, read Punisher #1 or Deadpool #1. They give the same exact info, but at least this time it’s useful for a character who only has been around as a D level hero.

Then we get a second story with Rodney Buchemi on art; or basically giving us a ‘manga’ look. It’s fits fine for the story and it isnt too hyperrealistic like most manga’s are (although I wouldnt want this as the normal art for the series). This was actually pretty funny and touching at points. Basically with Pak and Van Lente pointing out how garbled Bruce’s stance in the Marvel U right now is an added bonus.

This is the perfect issue to jump in to anyone who hasnt giving it a try. It’s funny, it has tone of mythology to it, it has great art for both stories; it has everything! (Okay maybe it doesnt have Wolverine in it…) But I made this my Pick because this issue basically tells us why this series matter: It’s fun, and that’s all I want in my comic.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
