This series just gets better and better with every issue. It’s a series that shouldnt work, given that a D-list hero took over an A-list hero. But every week Greg Pak and others have given me something entertaining for me to read every week. So let’s get right on to it:

GOOOODDDD SQUADDD!!!!!

Wait…..there’s no God Squad here? So this isnt a SI tie-in?…..Bummer….Now I really gotta try hard to sell this book…..Well…..this being my POTW could help get you to pick it up.

I’m always iffy on Greg Pak as a whole, sure he’s written this series; overall though his stuff is very hit and miss for me. But what Pak does well with this book, is humor, and you need humor in a book that doesnt take itself seriously. Whether it’s sparring with Princess Namora, Ares and Hippolyta talking in a small diner (what is this Thor?), or Adamus Cho going to mate with an Amazon (then get slaughter) there are a ton of laughs to be had here.

But more then that Pak (and Van Lente) just makes a great action book here. It also helps that the art is also consistant with each issue. God some of the stuff from previous issues and here, are just some of the best art around. Sure there’s pretty girls here, so my theory of comics being run by 13 year old boys ring true, but it’s not enterially eye-rolling seeing them. I guess my only complaint about this issue is the Amazon’s/Gods themselves. Overall DC does a much better job, in my opinion, on writing gods and other mythological beasts into their Universe. Not saying Marvel isnt trying, but it’s still laughable to think that Greek Gods are in the same vein as Iron Man or Captain America in this universe.

Still this is a fantastic read every single issue that has come out. I dont understand still why people wont give this a try, unless you dont like fun. Hey people say I dont like fun and here I am enjoying this series. Let’s just hope this stays as Incredible Herc for a long time, and not switch back to Hulk and not give this guy his own series.
