The last couple of weeks has seen it’s share of crazy comic books. First was Zombi, which made absolutely no sense but still was fun to read. Then last week we had Chew #18 which was crazy but fit the tone of the series nicely. Now we have Mike Mignola giving us one strange Hellboy story for us to read. Which is interesting because all Hellboy stories are strange and it has to be REALLY strange to notice it. Well ‘Buster Oakley Gets His Wish’ really crosses the line of strangeness and I don’t know where to start.

We got farmers who love cows alot, aliens turning people into half-cow/half-man creatures, and a really unnessicary close alien probe situation involving Hellboy. It reads like any other Hellboy one-shot lately: Hellboy gets into a predictament and his only solution is punching everything in sight. It’s a formula that Mignola has been doing to months now and it never fails to disappoint. I mean that’s really all there is to this one-shot and nothing else. So if you’re looking for a story with nothing but aliens getting their ass handed to Hellboy, then you’ll love this issue. Also, if you love half-cow/half-man creatures.
